How to ensure that the cardboard box meets the pressure resistance requirements?

July 31st at 4:11pm

1、 Choose the appropriate cardboard box material

1. Type of cardboard: cardboard boxes are usually made of corrugated cardboard, and there are various types of corrugated cardboard (such as type A, type B, type C, etc.), among which type C corrugated cardboard has relatively high compressive strength. Choose the appropriate type of corrugated cardboard based on the weight and size of the contents.

2. Cardboard quality: The quality of cardboard directly determines the compressive strength of the cardboard box. High quality cardboard has higher density and strength, which can provide better compressive performance. Therefore, when choosing cardboard, attention should be paid to the quality of its base paper.

2、 Optimize the structural design of cardboard boxes

1. Increase cardboard thickness: Thickening cardboard or increasing its rigidity can effectively improve the compressive strength of cardboard boxes. Strengthening the cardboard thickness at the bottom, top, and perimeter of the cardboard box can significantly enhance its support and resistance to compression.

2. Reinforce the four corners of the cardboard box: The four corners of the cardboard box are the most susceptible to compression, so reinforcing these four corners can significantly improve the compressive strength of the cardboard box. You can use materials such as corner boards and wooden frames for reinforcement, or use adhesive to connect the four corners into a whole.

3. Optimize the shape of the cardboard box: Reasonably design the shape and size of the cardboard box to reduce stress concentration points and improve the overall compressive performance of the cardboard box. For example, avoid using cardboard boxes that are too high, as increasing the height will reduce the stability of the cardboard boxes.

3、 Use auxiliary materials and processes

1. Spacers and fillers: Add appropriate spacers and fillers inside the cardboard box to reduce the movement of items during transportation, thereby reducing the compression deformation and damage of the cardboard box during transportation.

2. High quality adhesive: Use high-quality adhesive (such as corn glue, etc.) to ensure a strong bond between the cardboard and improve the compressive strength of the cardboard box. The selection of adhesive should consider factors such as adhesion, stiffness, and load-bearing capacity.

4、 Conduct compressive testing

1. Testing standards and methods: Conduct compressive strength testing on cardboard boxes according to relevant standards (such as national standards or industry standards). During testing, place the cardboard box on a pressure testing machine and apply pressure at a certain speed until the box collapses. Record the pressure value at this time as the compressive strength of the cardboard box.

2. Evaluate test results: Evaluate whether the cardboard box meets the compression requirements based on the test results. If the compressive strength of the cardboard box is lower than the expected value, it is necessary to adjust the material, structure, or process to improve its compressive performance.

5、 Consider transportation conditions and force direction

1. Transportation mode: Different transportation modes (such as land, sea, air, etc.) will apply different pressures and impact forces to cardboard boxes. Therefore, when selecting and designing cardboard boxes, it is necessary to consider the characteristics of transportation methods and their impact on the compressive performance of cardboard boxes.

2. Stacking method: The cardboard boxes will be subjected to pressure from the upper cardboard boxes during the stacking process. Therefore, it is necessary to design the stacking method and layers of cardboard boxes reasonably to ensure that they will not be damaged due to excessive pressure during the stacking process.
