Three influencing factors on the compressive performance of corrugated cardboard boxes

July 31st at 4:01pm

1. The physical functional goals of the cardboard used to make cardboard boxes.

When the tensile strength of the commonly used corrugated cardboard used in the production of cardboard boxes is poor, it can cause the cardboard boxes to exhibit a stable increase in strength and deformation during compression testing, resulting in a situation where the effective value is only very high and slightly lower. At the same time, the moisture-proof effect of cardboard is also very important, especially for cardboard boxes used for frozen packaging. The regulations on the moisture-proof effect of cardboard are relatively high. If the moisture-proof effect of cardboard is not good, even if the tensile strength of the cardboard box is high, it is very easy for the cardboard box to be damp and cause the shell to collapse when stored in the freezer, resulting in the problem of collapse.

2. Effective design of cardboard box production process.

After going through the surface, the manufacturing process of cardboard boxes can also pose certain hazards to the tensile strength of cardboard boxes. Taking the transverse compression line of cardboard boxes as an example, under the same conditions, for every 1mm increase in the total width of the transverse compression line of cardboard boxes, the tensile strength of cardboard boxes will decrease by 90-130N, and the deformation amount will increase by 2mm. In other words, if the line is too wide, it will result in a delay in the force value of the cardboard box during the compression test, with a small effective value and a large deformation amount. Therefore, in order to ensure the tensile strength of corrugated cardboard boxes, in addition to putting in a lot of effort on the hard cardboard layer, it is also necessary to design a reasonable production process for the cardboard boxes and minimize the harm of each process to the tensile strength of the cardboard boxes.

3. Considering the relationship between cardboard box type and corrugated cardboard box, choose the suitable corrugated cardboard according to the box type.

People who are not very familiar with cardboard boxes usually think that the larger the corrugated shape of the cardboard, the higher the tensile strength of the cardboard box, while ignoring the harm of corrugated shape to deformation. Generally speaking, the larger the rib shape, the greater the tensile strength of the cardboard box and the greater the deformation amount; The smaller the corrugated shape, the lower the tensile strength and deformation of the cardboard box. If the cardboard box is too large but the ribs are not large, it is more likely to be crushed during compression testing; The cardboard box is too small, but the ribs are very large, which can cause excessive deformation during compression testing, resulting in a long buffering process and a large error between the effective value and the final force value. Therefore, when formulating corrugated cardboard boxes, selecting the appropriate corrugated type based on the box type is also an important step in controlling the tensile strength of the cardboard box.
